This is collection of work I have done at Live Oak Communications, my internships, and in my classes that demonstrates my ability to write both effectively and strategically in the PR field.

While interning at RLF Communications, I assisted with media relations for Brooks Pierce, a local attorney’s office. I created and distributed news releases almost weekly for Brooks Pierce on topics such as award nominations, speaking opportunities, new hires, and areas of expertise, among many more. I was encouraged to stay up-to-date on a variety of speciality areas for the attorney’s, such as digital marketing and drone technology. This release is an example of one I wrote when Brooks Pierce attorneys were recognized by an industry publication. I would create a news release like the one here for Brooks Pierce’s website, as well as one’s specific to each office location and alumni publication.
While interning at RLF Communications during the fall of 2014, I worked closely with Camp Corral, a free one-of-a-kind summer camp for the children of wounded, fallen, or disabled veterans. I created pitch materials for a variety of military related topics, garnering both local and national media coverage. This pitch is one that I wrote for national media that had covered similar charitable giving in previous years, encouraging them to include Camp Corral on their 2014 charitable holiday giving lists. An infographic was attached to the pitch that RLF’s creative team worked closely with Camp Corral to create.
This is a press release I wrote while interning at Sarah Hall Productions Public Relations in New York City (summer 2014). The news release is for SHP’s client Madame Alexander Doll Company which was releasing a new global diversity play doll line. The tone of the press release is fun and childlike because of the content and the audience, family and children’s magazines and websites.
This is a campaign I researched and created by myself for my Communications Campaigns class while abroad in Australia (Fall 2013). I chose the topic of sun protection for my campaign because Australia has the highest rate of skin cancer anywhere in the world. My campaign is targeted at young adult Australian university students, as dictated by the course requirements.
Sample Campout! Carolina Pitch
This is one of 9 media pitches I created at Live Oak Communications in 2014. This pitch was targeted at Ed Nickens, a writer for Our State magazine, regarding my clients’ event, Campout! Carolina. I pitched the story idea in hopes of him writing a story in the Mountain Issue of Our State magazine in October 2014 and it was selected! The article is located on page 252 of the October 2014 issue.
This was a press release I created for Earth Share North Carolina’s event Campout! Carolina while I was the Account Supervisor in 2014. This news release garnered 16 media hits, including the one in Our State magazine, mentioned above.
